Lathom Road Medical Centre is proud to be recognized as a veteran-friendly practice. This means we can help the NHS fulfill its promise to support the Armed Forces Covenant, which ensures that veterans and the Armed Forces community can access health services without disadvantages and receive priority care for health issues related to their service.
A veteran is anyone who has served in the British Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) for even a single day, including those from the Merchant Marine who were in war zones, such as crew during World War II or the Falklands and Gulf Wars. There are about 2.4 million veterans in Great Britain, primarily men and many over the age of 65. Each year, around 18,000 service personnel transition to civilian life, most remaining healthy, but approximately 2,000 are discharged for medical reasons, mainly due to back problems, knee issues, mental health challenges, and hearing loss.
If you are a military veteran, please inform our practice team so we can update your medical records accordingly.
